Q: CTS after broken wrist ?

I broke my wrist about eight years ago, and ever since I've always had wrist pain. I just always assumed that was the reason. But over the past few months it has gotten much worse. And it isn't my dominant hand. I use the computer a good bit, but since it is not my dominant hand and I do not type correctly, I hardly ever use it. My symptoms are numbness in all fingers, especially on the tips, (on several occasions I have woken up in the middle of the night with severe pain in my thumb and inability to move it), shooting pain in wrist that travels all the way up to and including my elbow, and after pain and numbness, a weak feeling in my arm that makes it very hard to move and use. I am unsure if this is actually Carpal Tunnel, as I know it develops in older individuals and I am only nineteen. I have also heard this syndrome may be inherited, and if this is true, both my father and grandfather have this as well. I don't know if I should schedule myself an appointment yet, and if I was, what kind of doctor to schedule it with. Thank you in advance for your help, and I hope to be hearing from someone soon.

Carpel Tunnel hits all ages...This is especially true with the new computer age...You could well have it...One thing I would advise you is when you are typing to have your hands even with your stomach...Have them the way that you were taught in high school...Not raised over a table...This really does help...Another thing is check out a wrist brace to wear at night...This helps a lot...Guard your hands as they have to do lots of work ahead in life for you....Good luck...
