Q: CT Scan & MRI Scan & X-Ray

Hi,

At the age of 16 I had an X-Ray for my chest.

In one single day at age 19, I had a CT Scan for my abdominal region. About an hour later, I had an MRI scan for my pelvis, abdominal region and my brain.

I also had an X-Ray for my face a month later, still aged 19.

At age 20, I had a CT Scan done for my face.

Can all of this cause cancer? Have I put myself at risk?

How many scans of such nature have you lot had?

Also, ultrasounds are safe are they not; and can be used many times as they pose no risk for cancer? I have had several ultrasound tests done on my testicles and penis; 5 in total. Oh and one ultrasound for my thyroid gland.

Hope to hear from you all. I have been wondering about the side-effects.

hello and welcome. ive had 2 and soon will have my 3rd mri scan done and again various x-rays and i have come to know harm.
they are used proffesionally and they would never be used if cancer was a high risk factor. ive had no side affects from mine as without these fantastic pieces of equipment we would all suffer undiagnosed illnesses that only they can detect. many ultra scans are usued also on pregnant women so i think you will be fine.
hope this puts your mind at rest.

You ever had a Ct scan done? I had an enema put in my anus, to put in some IV contrast. Straight after the scan, I went to the toilet and excreted, with the IV contrast coming out as well.

But also some, well most of the IV contrast, came out during the scan, as I couldn't hold it in.
