Q: crying over smoking

I started crying before I quit smoking and started the champix. I just thought I had to go through a grieving process. I loved smoking and I knew I was going to miss it but it was time to give it up. Smoking helped me procrastinate too much.

Is this the first time that you have quit smoking? Yes, it is a grieving progess...it has been your companion. Need to replace it with a hobby (or in my case, lots of sugarless chewing gum)

Personally I smoked for 15 years and come Novemeber I will celebrate 14 years smoke free.

I, too, loved to smoke and then one day I realized it controlled me and I did not control it. That was a big issue...I am not one to be controlled...it's give and take with my life.

I quit cold turkey...I smoked as many cigarettes as I could within a hour and was a bear to live with for 3 days...

Anyway by you quitting you are doing yourself a huge favor. Not only will your sense of smell & energy increase but your lungs will begin to rid itself of the black, tarry stuff.

Congrats...hang in there Smile

Congratulations!
I too have been quit (cold turkey) for 17 years.......smoked 2 packs a day for years. Hardest thing I ever did was to quit smoking..........Now I curse myself for ever putting on in my mouth. I went htoruhg a program at our local hospital. Its all about control.......are you gonna let that cigarette control you? OR are you gonna take control of your life and give it up? I would walk everytime I felt hte urge to msoke, I also kept a rubber band around my wrist, and popped it as a remider. I TOTALL agree wiht the ZIG! Smoking is like a crutch.......chomp on some carrot sticks, suck empty straws....do something wiht your hands...I needle pointed and crocheted, but also built and painted birdhouses........We are here cheering you on! BOORAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

day three
you're right about the control thing. that's was the straw that helped me quit. I'm the controller in this body and when I realized how it was controlling me I got my back up and that gave me the chutzpah to actually quit. I've quit once before but only made it two weeks. This time I made it 8 months and then screwed up. I'm back on track though. It's day 3
