Crawling Skin

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out. My boyfriend gets this skin crawling feeling only when he lays down at nightto sleep. He said that it feels like mesquitos are biting him, or bugs are crawling all over his skin. He gets little patches of welps, but i don't know if it is because of him itching or what. Please help!!!!

Couldn't this be bed bugs? Does he get this feeling only when he sleeps in a certain environment (i.e. his bed)?
