Birth control is helpful in preventing pregnancy. Need to know more about birth control? Start here to learn more about popular methods of birth control....
You have many birth control options. Each works differently. What are the choices and what should you consider in order to help you make your decision? ...
Each method of birth control comes with risks to your health. What are the general problems you could encounter?...
1. I just started birth control about a week ago and around the last two days of the week (fri/sat) I started having menstrual cramps but nothing has happened. I went to the doctor a week before that when I got the pills she told me to start taking it that Sunday but I wasn't on my period... everyone I've talked to said they started it the first Sunday of their period but I was never on mine. what do these cramps I get mean? Should I be worried. >.<
2. Also today on Sunday me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex and he accidentally came in me. About a couple hours later I took my pill from week 2. Am I at risk of pregnancy? Because on the pack it said it was okay to have unprotected sex after seven days. (But I never expected him to make an opposie)

I actually just started birth control for the first time and I took it before my period as well. If you don't start birth control on your period like most people do, you will not be safe until your next period, and probably until the whole month of birth control is finished. My doctor was very specific and repeated that many times. There is a chance you could be pregnant, so if you haven't taken a test and it's been two weeks.. I would think about taking one. I don't mean to freak you out because I'm in a similar position as well. I hope all goes well for you!

actually if you start the combined pill mid cycle you are proteted after 7 days of taking it so if you had sex on day 8 you should be ok providing you took them all on time, but if ever you are worried take a pregnancy test three weeks after possible conception. It may be wise to contact your family planning nurse to answe any questions as they are the expert after all
