Q: Cramping pain in abdomen

I am a 42 year old female in good health and not overweight. For the past week or so I have been experiencing a cramping pain (mild to moderate in intensity) in the upper abdominal area just below my bra strap. The pain is very similar to a "side stitch" that one gets when running, but the pain is in the middle of this area, below the breast bone and above my belly button. I also am experiencing stomach bloating and some gas and burping. The pain is better when I am laying down or leaning back, and worse when I lean forward or put pressure around the area. I was taking Prilosec OTC for the past week because I suspected I might have GERD, but I stopped taking the Prilosec two days ago to see if the Prilosec might have been causing the pain, and I am still having the pain so I don't think it is the Prilosec. The pain is worse from 3 - 6 hours after a meal. I don't smoke and drink alcohol moderately. I don't have any history of any digestive disorders other than occasional heartburn.

Burning pain in the abdomen between the breastbone and the navel, that occurs few hours after meal and is alleviated by food consumption, is suggestive for ulcer located at duodenum, upper part of intestines.
Belching, feeling bloated, indigestion, nausea are some additional symptoms.
Visit your doctor for upper gastrointestinal x-ray and a test for Helicobacter Pylori infection.
