Hi Doctor

I am 27 and been married for 3 years. Last year I had a miscarriage at 1 1/2 month. After that for 1 year we didn't plan for a baby. Now it has been 5 months since we are trying. Now we are undergoing some fertility treatments. From age 15 onwards I have severe cramping for days during periods and also back pain. But this month, period was supposed to come on last Monday. I have kept a sanitary napkin for safety. Tuesday I could see some blood clots in the napkin. But no bleeding and most important no pain at all(Keep in mind that my usual cramping is so severe that I cannot even sleep). Now it has been 3 days after that and I could see very lilltle spotting on napkin(brown or kind of black). Today morning I did a home pregnancy test which came negative. So I am confused what is wrong with me? Was this my regular periods? If so why this sudden change? IF it was not a period then what is happening? I don't have any other symptom otehr than dizziness and headache. any ideas?

The "severe cramping for days during periods and also back pain" could now be missing because of your fertility treatment.

The other reason could be a miscarriage since you also saw clots on the pad. If you had a miscarriage the HCG would still be high and can be detected by an ELISA pregnancy test.

There is not much to add. Talk to your fertility specialist regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
