Q: Cramping and dark bleeding

My girlfriend has had pretty bad cramps and she woke up in the middle of the night with horrible cramps and she was bleeding and the color was mostly redbu with dark spots. We havent had sex but we have done everything else. Do you know what is wrong with her?

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum

If there was no intercourse, then the bleeding was not due to sex. There is a possibility that she had her normal periods. It could also be withdrawal bleeding if she is on pills. If there was fingering of vagina, it could be due to infection or cut or abrasion.
