Hi I am on birth control, and today me and boyfriend had sex without a condom. We are sexually active and have sex about every day sometimes multiple times. Today after being on top of him I started to feel cramps as if I was on my period, and I also developed a headache. We did not have rough sex it was actaully less rough then usual. Is this common? Could this be an early sign of pregnancy?

I am on birth control but I am expected to take my first sugar pill tonight. I'm just a bit nervous because about 1 1/2 weeks ago we also had sex without a condom, I would just like to have a 2nd opinion Smile

What happened sounds a lot like PMS.

Menstrual cramping and orgasms cause the same type of contractions through your uterus walls, one experienced as cramps, the other as the very pleasurable deep contractions of an orgasm. When you get close to your period, these two can get intermingled, and the orgasm might even cause menstrual cramps. It is even possible that the orgasm make you start to spot or bleed a bit earlier.

As long as you took your pills as prescribed, you are safe from pregnancy. The failure rate is so small when you followed the instructions and heeded the warnings, that it is not even worth thinking about.

Take care!
