Q: CP / CPPS symptoms
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 15th, 2008
I am a 23 year old male. for the past 13 months i've had back pain that is at times right below the shoulder blades and at times is in the lower back. I've seen doctors repeatedly and I've had x-rays of the chest done and i had blood tests shortly before the back pain started as part of a routine check-up and everything seemed to be fine. i've also been through physical therapy and besides my family doctor who i've seen five times - i've been to an orthapedist twice. they dont think there is anything to worry about.
lately ive noticed that my back pain is worse the days after i ejaculate and im wondering what the connection could be. does is sound muscular? like ive said, my doctors dont think its anything serious but im wondering cause im young and 13 months is a long time for back pain. please help

General Q and A Answer A4906

Given the data you provided, you might be experiencing Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS). The fact that the pain increases after ejaculation implies Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS). The other symptoms are: pelvic or perineal pain without evidence of urinary tract infection. Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS) can also be accompanied with constant burning in the penis, fatigue, myalgia. Lack of any of the symptoms described above does not necessarily exclude Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS). Blood and urine laboratory tests as well as a physical exam by a urologist should be performed to distinguish this condition from neuromuscular causes.
