I have probley had TMJ over 5yrs, but didn't notice it. I come from a really active family and sports were a big thing for me. I got a concussion in gynastics. I started getting really bad head aches a lot. But they soon passed, as I started middle school. There I was the best singer in the group. Belting my way to the top,and continued through h.s. While was in Middle school though I was in Karate, and recieved my fare share of punches to the face. But nothing seemed wrong until my 3yr of h.s. I had a real sharp pain in jaw, my teeth were sensitive, and I had a head aches all the time. So I went in for wisdom teeth extraction. After I recovered, the pain didn't go away, and I started questioning my whole life. What did I do to start this pain. I first found the signs, and traced my history, and I knew that I had developed TMJ.
But I didn't know how to treat it. So did what you did, night guard didn't work. Tryed pain killers, nope! Then I found Dr.Herme, he made me a brace that would change my bite, not space it. I have noticed remarkable differences compared to the night guard.
So don't get a night guard, mouth brace!!!
