I have had many sexual partners over the years and never really used protection! Stupid i know but had a few bad experiences with condoms and put me off. i have had several tests for STD's and have always been clear. I have been asked if i wanted the HIV test but have always been too scared. Im 45 years old and female. What are the chances of me having HIV?

Missobree,

I am a 40 year old female, and hardly used condoms and got HIV which lead to AIDS.

The way infection occurs during unprotected sex is that through friction, cut and tears happen that we don't feel during the sex. Semen and vaginal fluids have enough HIV in them to cause infection. The HIV in the genital fluids uses the cuts and tears as a way into the bloodstream.

Depending on things like if you had good lubrication and did not have invisible cuts and tears, chances are you don't have it. But more chances are that you may have been infected.

I suggest a blood test for HIV and persuade you to use protection because condoms work if used properly. My husband and I have used them faithfully for over 6 years. I have the virus, he doesn't...don't be put off mbae condoms. In fact, look around for the right size.

Hope your experience doesn't give you an incurable disease...

Latex condom is recommended because it has smaller holes than HIV itself.

Get tested...
