Hi there.

I am very worried about my mothers health; she has had a cough on and off for nearly two months, it's rather wheezy and recently now suffering from pain in her right lung. She used to smoke for roughly five years but hasn't touched a ciggerete in over 17 years. Now she doesn't know i'm doing this but I am rather worried this could perhaps be lung cancer? Is there anything I can do to reassure myself and my mum?

Thankyou for any replies.

Your mom should see her doctor for an examination, and obtain a chest x-ray, to begin with. There are many causes for chronic coughing (most of which are not related to cancer, although cancer is always a slim possibility).

I am a 41 yr old healthy woman except that i have smoked for 23 yrs. Until this past year I have not had any bad problems from it. For past year it has been chronic broncitis after another. 3months ago I had broncitis or what i think was something worse I was down for 3days with temps of 102 and 103.4 een after tylenol. I still have a bad cough but was feeling better. Now my Right side lung and into my back hurts all the time if I cough i hold my self and when lying down the pain worsens. It feels like pain in my lung all the time. I will not have insurance until afterchristmas, but I am getting so worried. Is it possible to have pnuemonia and not have a temp now and will it go away or could i have something worse like lung cancer. I thought maybe I pulled a muscle but I dont think so.
