My thirteen year old daughter was lifting the baby out of the car seat when she accidentally poked him in the eye with her fingernail. He cried briefly, but nobody really knew what was wrong because she did not know she had done it. An hour later I saw the little cut in the white of his eye. He appeared fine. This morning his eye is really red. It does not appear to give him any pain. Should I take him to the emercency room or just wait and see his regular doctor on Monday (tomorrow). Please help.
When there is a eye redness with corneal abrasion, you should take your baby to the ophthalmologist.
Most small abrasions heal in one to three days. But, it is important the childâs eye to be examined the next day.
