Q: Copper IUD and constant spotting

I had a copper IUD inserted in mid July of this year, since then I have not had a period. I have however had constant spotting since the insertion, on most days I must wear a pantie liner and a couple times it seemed enough to wear a pad or tampon but then ended up not really necessary. I have had some PMS symptoms a few times, like some cramps, stronger appetite, emotional sensitivity, but again this has only been a few times. I don't know whats going on, I have read things that have said this is no big deal and things that are really scary. HELP!

Does this IUD have hormones? When I got an IUD I looked at the Mirena (which has hormones) and I read that it can cause lighter to non-existant periods. I have the Paragard (horomone free) which is likely to cause heavier periods. I haven't had one yet though, it has only been 2 weeks. You may want to take a pregnancy test. If you have a tubular pregnancy you want to seek help immediately. Hope this is helpful.
