Q: Coping with oligomenorrhea
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 25th, 2009
hi. i got my period two years ago and used to get it every month. there was only one time that i got it two months apart. now i haven't gotten my period since september so that's 5 months. i think it's because i've been really really ridiculously stressed out about school, but i'm kinda getting nervous about it. is this normal and is there something i can take to make my period more normal?

Oligomenorrhea is a condition when uterine bleeding occurs with intervals longer than 35 days. The exact mechanism for oligomenorrhea is not known, but having in mind that it is more frequent in certain conditions like anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, it is clear that the stress can be related to it. Teenagers find it useful to take more vitamins from group B and C vitamin, but there is no scientific evidence about this.
