Q: Coping with disc prolapse pain
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 1st, 2009
I had a prolapsed disc just over a year ago. After physio, it went about 3 months later. I've had niggling pain since, but on Friday, I spent almost all of the day standing up and since then my back has been so sore again. It's sore when standing and when walking, but was ok when sitting. But now, its starting to be uncomfortable while sitting. I've been taking some of the pain medication i was prescribed last year, but it's still sore. I had very bad sciatica last time, but at the moment it's just in my back.

Your question involves the disc prolapse pain you are experiencing.

I highly suggest getting your hands on the works from Robin Mckenzie, a world renowned physical therapist who created an outstanding approach to working with disc pathology.

His book is called "Treat Your Own Back".

This book can assist you in working in gentle movements and lifestyle factors that may assist you in improving your situation. As always, make sure you speak with your doctor prior to beginning any movement program to ensure it is safe for your unique condition.
