I hope someone can help me. I leave with my husband for a trip to alaska in a month and have been fighting hypoglycemia symptoms for over 2 months now. I have been following my diet every since feburary and have good days but mostly bad. Just can't kick it. What snacks are good to bring for a long plane trip. I am starting to panic now. I check my blood sugar twice a day and the numbers stay around 96 to 127. don't understand why I still feel so bad.

I'm going to guess you're eating things you shouldn't be. Check out my diet on this forum to compare to what you're doing. The thread is called 'Hypoglycemia Rules and Diet.' Also, post here what you're typical meal is and what you've been eating in general and I'll tell you what to do.

Where do I say pineapple? Pineapple is fine, but you should't be eating bananas. They have a terribly high starch level that will keep you sick. That's a heck of a lot of bread they got you eating there. You shouldn't be eating more than 1-2 slices per day, that's what too many. In addition, I'm going to guess it's white bread. You need to find sprouted bread, look for Ezekiel's line of low glycemic bread (comes in an oranged wrapper and can be found in most regular supermarkets now). I would avoid milk too and replace it with unsweetened almond milk. Regular milk is basically a simple sugar.

I coppied bread but they mean some type of starch. I am having a hard time trying to figure out starches to eat besides bread. can you help there. I know you said not beans. Also can you give me pointers on good snacks to carry with me on this trip because my meal times will be all messed up. any input you have for me is greatly appreciated.

Ick, too much starch there. Stick with sprouted bread and pasta and you'll be okay, but not as much as they recommend, or if you do make sure you divide it pretty evenly throughout the day. Vegetables are really the only other way, but you should be careful of root vegetables or tubers (potatoes and such). You should get most of your starch from sprouted grain. The best snack, and the easiest to carry, is walnuts or almonds. Kind of expensive, but easy and good for you, you can't really eat too many of them. Or you could try sunflower seeds, those are good as well.

How this Stan.....
Could you put out a list of foods with Protein in them so, people can make choices in what they eat.

Then put out a list of vegetables that would be good for them again choices.

Do keep in mind that there are differetn kinds of proteins in foods, ok.

Well, I await your list to see if any of mine are on it.

I try to eat something Protein, Fruit, and vegetables with every meal. (All thre groups)

Not to pick on you Stan just want some more information that is all. OK

No problem man, I can do that. This is in fact a question I've heard a lot, but I always dimissed it with "just eat anything I say not to." I thought that was obvious enough, but a list really is a good idea. Do you just want a general list of things I eat, perhaps in order of awesomeness?

Not that kind of list....
A List of the different kinds of proteins, animal protein, dairy protein, vegetable protein, etc.... like that.

Then list the different foods that are aonsidered protein occording to the Glycemic Index.

List of vegetable choicse list that do get along with people with hypoglycemia.

Then, list some foods that contain sugars that most of us were eating in the past that are now not good for us.

That type of listings, sir....
