Since Chlamydia infection is a silent disease most of the time, it is possible that you have the infection from a previous partner and are a latent carrier of it. The infection lingers in the throat, cervix, vagina, and urethra. This will come up once you get tested.
Your previous partner âfrom around 8 months ago had it a year or so before me" may not have taken proper treatment and could still be carrying the infection.
While you were with him, if he was tested negative for chlamydia, then only you can be sure that he did not have an infection and could not have passed it to you. However, your current partner could also have got it from his wife. If you show positive for Chlamydia, then there is no doubt he got it from you. Otherwise his wife will have to take the test too.
Nothing much can be said until you take the test. The possibilities have been listed out. Consult your gynecologist about this.
Hope this helps. Take care!
