Contraceptive pill danger to child

Can you please let me know what the dangers are to a child if they swallow a contraceptive pill. I have lost one from the packet and have done a massive search and clean of the house but would like to know what the effects would be on a child just in case she does find it and if I should be very worried.

Do I need to continue the search?

Thank you, nitnat.

nitnat1,

The amount of hormones contained in one pill is not enough to cause any problems.

But, if are still concerned, call your family physician for advice.

Good luck.

It is very unlikely to have any serious effect. Maybe a headache or nausea. If it is a girl, she may even experience some slight spotting or vaginal bleeding when the pill leaves her system (same effect that cause your periods).
