continuous "period" since I had my last son 6 months ago.

User Profile
I have had a pretty much continuous "period" since I had my last son 6 months ago. I had my tubes tied shortly after having the baby.. 6weeks approx. The bleeding is non stop and varies from spotting to extremely heavy. The longest my body has gone is 1 week of no bleeding. My doctor didn't seem to care so I quit going to see him... I am going to find a new one. Any ideas of what could be going on? I have had babies in the past but have always gone straight back to my normal cycle.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Prolonged vaginal bleeding is not a normal symptom, and needs to be evaluated further to look for the underlying cause. If the bleeding is light, it could suggest possibility of repeat pregnancy. Other possibilities include hormonal imbalances, thyroid abnormalities, endometrial problems, uterine polyps/fibroid etc. You should consider reporting to your treating doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation to look for the underlying cause for the abnormal vaginal bleeding that you describe. You can also consider taking second opinion from another gynecologist. Further treatment measures as appropriate (based on examination and investigations results) would be suggested to help you control the bleeding and regulate periods. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet.
Take care.
