I started to take birth control pills on the first day of my period. However, i took it around lunch because that was the most convenient time, but only a little bit of blood had shown... then for the next day barely any blood showed. the next day or the day after it started to appear more like a period, but not so intense. however, the problem is that now its been over two weeks that i have started the pill, and it seems that my period is continuing. the whole time it is not heavy, and often seems like it is going to stop soon, but then doesn't. and often the blood seems like a darker color, as if it is almost at the end of my period... is this a symptom form the pill? should i continue to take the pill?

Please help... I dont know what I should do....

LoveChronicle, It is called breakthrough bleeding and it is a side effect of birth control hormones. Not all women experience this. It will normally just sort itself out after a few cycles at most.

You can talk to your doctor to try another type of pill which might not have this side effect for you. The other option is to give it a few more weeks to see if it will stop.

Remember to take an iron supplement while you bleed like this, but do not overdose on iron.

Best of luck!
