I have been having issues since january of this year, and the issue has escalated quite a bit within the past 2 months.

In january it started when I was sick.. I figured just a stomach bug the first time it happened.. or i ate something that didn't agree with me... I thought It was the latter because it started with really foul burping for about a day and a half, I would burp these burps that smelled... well, like they should have been farts... I found this odd, but figured I ate something that just burped up nasty that way.... Then I got sick and vomited until I couldn't vomit anymore. Then I was fine til the next day when the same thing happened again. I chalked it up to a bug and went on with things... a few weeks later same thing... same stinky burps, same upset/sour stomach same vomiting... I noted the next time that my vomit smelled much like feces. I found that fecal vomiting was a real thing online and got concerned and called the dr. Dr said go into er.. i did... @ ER they said I was severely constipated and gave me an enema then sent me home with a bottle of magnesium citrate to drink.

the hospital and dr told me to take metamucil or a fiber supplement (even though I am a strict vegan and eat pretty much only fiber.. i found this odd)

Everything was ok until some time next month... same thing... I hadn't noted unusual infrequency in bowel movements etc. But then all of a sudden same thing... Now for some reason this would happen, often, after we would get pizza... maybe because its a heavier meal than i usually eat? I had never had issues with pizza before (the first time was after having pasta, though.. )I don't know.. I started to think maybe it was the pizza place... so we switched... I should note I am vegan and always get cheeseless all veggie on pizza...

so i recall maybe once in february then at least once or twice in march... I noted more issues with just general feelings of constipation within the month of april.. it seemed i would get constipated and if it didn't get out.. it would come up and i would start vomiting... but wasn't always consistant.. like the one time i would vomit the same day i earlier had BM....

April and may weren't marked with many issues at all.. i thought the issue had worked its way out on its own.. until june when it got really bad

Since the start of june i am sick every 3-10 days
Every episode starts the same... I get the foul burps followed by stomach pain, followed by vomiting... the vomit smells extra foul.. mostly like feces... I vomit til every thing is out.. usually until I vomit bile.. then my tummy hurts... i sleep a few hours and feel fine...

bowel movements in between episodes are infrequent compared to my normal bowel habits before all this started. I used to poop at least once or more a day... now i am EXTREMELY lucky if i have 3 in a week.. and when I do they are usually painful, soft, and thin

I haven't been able to figure a trend on what I have eaten.. It used to be I would get sick after a few days of no bowel movements but now that isn't always consistant. I was sick yesterday after having two big BMs the day before (very painful ones) but they were bowl fillers... i noted yesterday that there was a lot of bile mixed with the night before's tater tots... the vomit seems like it is hard to get up.. like it is deep deep down in digestive tract....

I have had a lot of feelings of rectal pressure... sometimes severe pain when I sit...

I have been drinking prune juice and eating prunes regulary the last few weeks... in hopes it would help... I am less constipated.. but still getting sick.. i quit drinking the prune juice and just eating prunes because i seemed to get sick to my stomach more often after drinking the prune juice

Here is other information...

so far I have had one xray that showed "thickening of intestinal walls" subsequent xray only showed "constipation", i was told..

the first xray prompted them to send me for ct scan... (unfortunately i had an allergic reaction to dye for scan!) Anyway ct scan noted nothing intestinal... but showed enlarged uterus... for which my genecologist followed up with a pelvic ultrasound today ( i won't hear back on that for a couple weeks)..

I will get to see a GI specialist next month... (unfortunately, it takes that long to get into the specialist)

today i have had severe back pain.. some rectal pressure and what feels kind of like cervical pressure.. (like my cervix hurts).... Not sure why my cervix hurts.. but i have had that a few times along with the rectal pressure in the past..

i guess i am posting on here because i am frustrated with this ongoing saga.. i don't know what is wrong and its driving me nuts!!!

You can request colonoscopy to see if there is really something wrong with your large intestines. X-ray, ultrasound and CT-scan are not enough to reveal all the issues about large intestines. Gastroscopy is requested to explore the stomach and duodenum.
You can consult the gastroenterologist about this.

My 11 year old daughter is going through the same thing as we speak. She had an x ray today and the doctor said she was constipated. She has had sever stomach cramps for 4 days now and has been vomiting for the last 2 days. She can't keep food or water down.No temperature is present. Currently on para choc as of today and has had an enaema tonight which did basically nothing. Not sure how to ease her pain?

thank you for advice...
i will be seeing a GI specialist next month... I will ask for a colonoscopy at that time... I am also going to ask about testing for celiac disease... In case it is a gluten sensitivity. I started taking probiotics hoping that would help... but I haven't seen an improvement as I was sick again over the weekend.

Thanks for the advice Smile

vomit, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and stinky burps
Hello. Well I went on vacation to Atlanta this past weekend. Saturday we went to eat out.the nextday during my trip to the Atlanta aquarium I started to have stomach pain during the dolphin tales show.as soon as the show was over I ran to the bathroom and had terrible diarrhea. I felt very ill and lost of energy. Then the stomach cramps started. Every 5 minutes. I went to the aquarium's first aid room where he gave me a barf bag and I had a private toilet. I immediately had diarrhea and felt lightheaded. I didn't want to miss my child 's experience so I returned to my family. I continued to have the painful cramps and then felt nausea. We went through the tunnel under the fish tank and I videoed the fish. As soon as I turned the corner I immediately vomit in the bag. The smell was awful!!! I had taken a few tums before the tunnel and I thought it was because the tums didn't agree with me. I felt a little better but then the burps came and they were described as farts! The cramps were so painful and came every five seconds to five minutes. I felt a LOL better after I took amodium ad. Later that night I ate and had two glasses of wine. The burps continued though. The next morning I had diarrhe again. I started to feel bad again so I took amodium ad again. My friend recommended me to this site. I don't have any symptoms now. Its Wednesday night. I'm scared now because I read here from you all that it comes back. I hope the symptoms don't come back.I went on Webmd site and read up on stomach viruses and food poisoning. The symptoms were all there except the abnormal stinky burps!!I hope its nothing else serious. If you have a comment or a solution please let me know. I work with children so I need to know what's going on. Also I have a coworker who is out with diarrhea.and vomit symptoms. I am going to the doctor soon.

Celiac disease (gluten enteropathy) is a kind of autoimmune disorder that affects the intestinal mucosa. It is provoked by gluten (protein from the food). Celiac disease can be assumed with specific blood tests but can be proven only with colonoscopy and biopsy.
You are welcome in any time.

thanks again for the info on celiac
I didn't realize celiac can be proven with colonoscopy and biopsy... and again, i thank you for being so informative...

I woke this morning with my arms itching and burning and they were all red.. I am starting to get blistery bumps... I had a reaction like this early in the month.. we thought it was an allergic reaction to dye for CT Scan.. Now that I am having the same thing, I find myself wondering if this rash can be related to my other issues (as I cannot come up with anything different I have done or ingested)... I of course will call the doctor today to see her because the rash is progressively getting worse as the day goes on... Sad

That rash could be an allergic reaction to some food you have ingested. It is hard to say if this rash is related to your digestive problems. It is true that many primary digestive disorders (celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, parasitic infections...) can also cause skin rash.

I wondered why she haven't had a colonoscopy yet.. hope ultrasound goes okay and there is nothing serious. After seeing discovery health so much I have learned that if your current physician doesn't seem to find a cure it is better to change doctorsto get to the bottom line. Not all doctors have the answers.

my insurance stinks
nightangel73, I haven't had a colonoscopy yet because my insurance stinks.. and my first family dr. didn't really listen or seem to care... So I had to switch primary care physician, then wait for insurance to approve the other tests and the referral to the specialist.. apparently the GI specialist needs to order colonoscopy.. I think my insurance prefers that or something...

It just boils down to my insurance being crap. My husband's employer switched his insurance a couple years ago and the new provider requires a lot of red tape for tests and such Sad

share thoughts
my dear:
I have that problem with my duaghter, she is 7 and she can not tell me what hurts her, but she will vomit the same as you.and she doesnot eat or drink properly
I have tried giving her a cup of water, or a mild ginger tea drink in the morning when she wakes up & don't give her food for an hour.
at night she will not eat after 7 P.M.
this is helping a little. still we have episodes of throwing up, mostly at night & if we push her to eat or drink after 7.
I pray that you feel better, knowing how painful it is .
god bless

severe bowel cramping and vomiting and headaches
I did online research and it seems they want to label it
Irritated Bowel Syndrom (IBS) and rack it all up to nerves.
I have similar symptoms and am trying now, just to take
time whenever I remember and relax and sort of meditate.
I know I've been way tense because of the first week
of my disease - I vomited for a week. The worst pain
in my life. (worse than having a baby)

I know that this is an old post but I was curious to hear the outcome... I told my husband that this could be a page out of my book. I am awaiting my appt with the gynecologist, have had a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy which did show a possibility for celiacs (i've been having a hard time with this because I can't see celiacs, i don't have diarrhea and that is common!?!) Hope that you get this and can help me out.

I've had IBS for years...didn't start throwing up or getting headaches until last november/december.Until reading these posts,I didn't think the headache was related to my other symptoms.

The weird part is I don't always have cramps before I vomit. Usually Iget nauseas and really hot and then it procedes from there. Then I get cramps and such. I get cramps a lot at different times,so bad thatsometimes i crawl to the bathroom or scream.I am on a high fiber diet and amvegetarian. I've had lots of tests done and Idon't have celiacs or anythingelse. I drink Citrucel because metamucil kills my stomach. It;s very disruptive.

I am on Bentyl forwhenthe pain gets unbearable...but I don't wantto build upan immunity to it so Ionly takeit when I am doubledover and screaming.

Do any of you getreally hot buthave no fever?

herbal products.more beneficial than drugs that doctors pushout
for those of u that are vegetarians - vegetables, fruit and too much fiber can cause all sorts of stomach issues. most vegetables are very very hard for the stomach to digest. and too much fiber can cause constipation.
my story goes.... august 2010 i started having the foul burps, as well as farts. I had severe diarreah for a week that was covered in muscous. I was vomitting and in massive upper abdominal pain. After the week of having the runs, I started getting constipated. Which was odd being that I used to poop atleat 3 times a day since i was a little girl. ( i am 31). I ended up in the hospital 13 times in 6 weeks. Everything seemed to be normal but the xrays always showed that i was constipated, which I already knew, but what i wanted to know was why. I am a healthy eater, I stick to whole grains, chicken, veggies, fruit. I stay away from most dairies because I am lactose intolerant. They ran did CT scan, endoscopy, and colonoscopy and found nothing unusual. I lost 15 pounds in the first 6 weeks because I couldnt eat. Couldnt even drink water because all I could do was vomit because the pain it created. it felt as though anything went in..within 10 mins there was extreme pain like there was something not allowing things to go past the upper part of the colon. The pain was in my back, and soo much in the upper part of the abdomen, i would swell and bloat and felt like death. I have my gallbladder out, so i know this wasn't the issue. Blood tests showed that there was no crohns or colitis. they checked for ulcers, wasn't that either. all the different medications they put me on didnt help at all. its been 7 months and I am still living in this god awful pain. sometimes death seems better than to be this ill. I have tried to chart what i eat and what might affect it, but it doesnt seem to matter. it comes, it goes. but most times its always there. when i get a bad episode it comes soo fast and i hunch over in pain and tears. they put me on a medication for spasms of the stomach...but that rarely helps. .. and its sedating, and i need to be clear headed so its not always possible to take.
recently i went to see an iridologist ... she read my eyes and told me that my colon and bowels were infested with parasites....and that my transverse colon was dropping (which that part could be from the removal of the gallbladder from 12 years ago.. after years the colon starts to fall because of the gap where the gallbladder used to be). I have been taking wormwood, and blackwalnut leaves (if anyone decides to try anything herbal) make sure its of good quality and not something just from a pharmacy. Pharmacy brand stuff just has enough of the proper ingredients to pass the health regulations). I am soo fed up with doctors and healthcare. it seems doctors will push out any sorts of medicine just to make money..after all the doctors are being paid by all the pharmaceuticals out there.. instead of being caring and investigating to what it could actually be..or if there is something besides "drugs" to help cure you, they wont suggest or recommend something else.
anyways.. good luck to all out there suffering.

Manderz30, stomach cramps can be caused by severe decrease in blood flow to the stomach and upper intestine through partially blocked superior mesenteric artery. Athlerosclerosis (clogged arteries) is the root cause. Even though you are rather young to have this problem, it may be worth investigating. If you have not already done so, you might check out Helicobacter Pylori.

GET A BRAIN SCAN
OK, to all of you who have vomiting issues and no diagnosis. PLEASE ask your doctor for a head scan. I kept asking my mom to get one and she kept telling me I was way off the mark and by the time she went in it was too late. She had an inoperable brain tumor. Please, I am not saying this is what you have at ALL! Just ask for a scan of your head, vomiting can be a sign of this. It amazed me that not one of her KAISER doctors ever suggested this. To top it off her new husband was a retired emergency room doctor. I kept telling both of them to get it checked and they refused until I called Kaiser myself and gave them hell. Unfortunately it was too late, this is something that can be FIXED so don't worry yourself, get in there ASAP!

Mystery Illness
My son is 13 yrs old and has been having upper abdomen pain since late July.Went to see his G.I dr on August 11th.She put in on Bentyl and scheduled a endoscopy for one month later on September 13th.Needless to say we didn't make it that far because on August 22nd exactly one week after he started school I was called to the school to pick him up because he was ill.He was vomiting and complaining of stomach pains.Since there was a stomach bug going around I thought that he had developed.By Wednesday he was vomiting uncontrollably and couldn't even hold water.Call the G.I dr and they said to bring him in to the office and when we got there he was admitted and they did the endoscopy in which they found polyps and wouldn't get the results for 7 days. They got the vomiting under control and sent his home that Saturday only to say they associated the problem with his acid reflux.

He was discharged on Saturday and that Tuesday had to be rush back to the hospital with the same symptoms. They took an x-ray of his stomach and said that he was severly impacted. They admitted him again because they couldn't get the vomiting to stop. They gave him to enemas because he couldn't go on his own.He went once and since they had the vomiting under control again they sent him back home adding miralax 2x daily to hs meds.

While going through all of this he has lost 25 pounds and stil can't keep anything down.I called the dr's office back on last Thursday because he was doubled over in pain and hadn't had a BM since Sunday and they said to give him a enema Thursday,Friday, and Saturday.Gave him the enema on Thursday and on Friday he went to the bathroom 3 times to only have a toilet full of blood each time.Took him to the dr and they said that the blood was from the enema and sent him home with yet another medication. So now he's on Omeprazole,Bentyl,Miralax, and Librax for his stomach issue. He is still constipated and can't go on his own.He has never had problem going to the bathroom before the stomach issues started. After the bloody stool incident on Friday he then woke up Saturday to a rash that consisted of water bump and to his insides itching so when I took him to the dr they said they he has a staph infection so they put him on more meds. They added Bactrim and Atarax for the itching.Needless to say he has been out of school for 3 weeks and I still don't have a diagnoses. Can anyone help.

I can't help Sad But my daughter has all the same symptoms and we have been dealing with this for 5 months:(. had every test the children's Hospital could think of and no answers Sad first they thought Kidney then maybe pulled muscles...I told them over and over her burps smell of Feces and eradicate hiccups. She vomits every morning and the only relief she gets is from enema which we have to administer frequently Sad..this relief is short lived. She is always constipated and seems to have no bowel contractions to enable a bowel movement. I've repeated to all doctors that is seems to be a Bowel issue. After months of hospital and clinic visits, they now say they think it could be a bowel issue Sad more tests!!!! She's losing weight and missed 2 months of school. We thought maybe stress from being bullied @ school was a issue. But after spending hours with her and discussing issues with her she became very relaxed and more confident in herself and the symptoms still remain. As parents we are at our wits end. Funny how the medical field is not familiar with these issues, yet it is is all over the internet from different people with the same condition or symptoms.. Like you I hope someone posts a relief for my daughter.

Maybe the bowel issues are caused by certain foods. Skin allergy testing is useless in determining food intolerances for bowel problems. Try putting her on a food elimination diet. Give her only brown rice rather than grains and flour for her starch, plus easily digestible protein and vegetables for a few days. Absolutely take her off all dairy products for a while also and give calcium supplements. If she seems to get better you can start introducing one new food every three days. I's a difficult diet for a child but it could save her years of suffering in the future if she finds out some food is causing this problem. If her bowels are totally inflamed (which would cause constipation) she might need a few days on steroid pills to take the inflamation down more quickly. Do this with the diet, and continue the diet after discontinuing the steroid pills. It took me many years to discover food was the source of my constipation and lung problems.

Smelly vomit and loose stool
I am wondering if my 5 year old daughter might have the same things. She has been diagnosed with "stomach migraines" which I had never heard of until a couple of weeks ago. She only vomits at night and has the awful smelling burps and hiccups. Her vomit looks and smells like stool also. However, she has frequent bowel movements, mostly diarrhea. She has been dealing with loose stool for years and we still have not found anything to help with that. The vomit has me really worried because she has missed a lot of school as well but it only happens at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are waiting to get into her GI specialist for a follow up.
