Q: constipation treatment

PLease help, i have been constipated a lot lately, and have tried more fiber. My nanny says she is going to take me to the doctor. what types of tests do they run, im just curious. For people with bad constipation. do they use their finger please tell me everything. I AM 13.

Does your Nanny think there is an obstruction - or do you just have mild constipation? Have you tried taking stool softeners daily? If you are just having some constipation issues, they will not exam you. The doctor might suggest more fiber, liquids, and maybe some sort of stool softener. However, if he feels it is not merely constipation, they may run a barium test (drink a liquid - then they perform an x-ray) to see what is going on, but I don't think you have to worry about an examination.
