Q: Constipation and pain

I am 28 and have been dealing with thyroid issues but am not currently on medication. I have in the past 6 months been dealing with constipation and pain in my upper left quaderant of my stomach area. Considering I am constipated I only go a little when I do go but in the last three days my stool has become very pale looking but still very hard. I was wondering what I should do? should this be something I should be worrying about?
I just took a laxative hoping this would help.
