10 years ago I was put on Paxil for anxiety. I went off it 6 months later. I had problems with my stomach, bowel movements growing up, but it was much worse after going off the Paxil. 8 years ago they put me back on Paxil, but last year it was determined the Paxil was no longer needed for anxiety for me. They put me on Prozac and weened me off that a month later (as Paxil has worse withdrawal symptoms). Since December now I have been totally off of Prozac.
Since then my stomach has began hurting again. I do have acid reflux but under control with medication. About 2 weeks ago my whole entire stomach started to hurt, it was this dull ache that was constant. Even if I would sit down or stand it would hurt, felt like your muscles do after you work out strenuously. I had been very constipated so took a laxative. The pain is no longer that bad.
I will be constipated for a few days, then have days with more frequent bowel movements. I have a burning sensation in the upper part of my belly, but it moves around and comes back, sometimes its on either side or in my abdomen, but there is some kind of sensation all day no matter how my bowel movements are. Sometimes if I eat the sensation goes away but only for 15 minutes or so.
Is this common for IBS? My doctor put me on Wellbutrin and said that if I am still having problems in a month that i need to go see a gastroenterologist. I am stuck on this HSA plan that I signed up for a few years ago, so I have to pay everything out of pocket, don't know how I will pay for a specialist, testing. Its been so long since i had this issue I can not recall a lot of the prior symptoms. All I know is I ended up going to the bathroom a lot, and did have discomfort in my stomach.
