I am 21 years old and I have a 16 month old daughter and a new son on the way. I am on an anti-depressant for post-partum. My daughter recently started sleeping in her own room and since she started I have been extremely worried about EVERYTHING. I will wake up in the middle of the night thinking I smell smoke somewhere in the house, or she will wake up and i will think something is wrong with her (her bones dislocated or broken, not breathing properly). Is this paranoia, or something to do with the pills I'm on or pregnancy hormones. I think it is scaring my partner. Please someone help!

You might be having a bad reaction to the anti-depressant. Check with your physician and make sure you have the right medication and the right dosage. It is not all that unusual to worry about your kids when you make a big transition like them being in their own bed in their own room. The usual problem is the child's reaction. Do you have smoke alarms? Do you do a nightly check of windows, stoves etc? Turn your worries into positive action so that rather than getting anxious you get busy making sure nothing happens. OK?
