Good afternoon,

I have finally found an area of talking, where people seem to have similar problems.

I am 23, Male and generally lead a fit and healthy lifestyle.

The problem started early November, when my tonsils closed up, covered in white puss - and swallowing became a nightmare. I originally thought Tonsillitis. I had some standard tonsillitis antibiotics, within 4/5 days swallowing was good and I felt well. I completed the course, to find 3 days later the same problem occured. Again prescribed antibiotics, of a slightly different penicillin content. This happened again, and again and I am currently on my 5th course of antibiotics. In between my glands were up and voice was muffled but this has cleared up.

In between I have had a blood test for glandular fever, negative. A throat swob, with no unusual bacteria reading. A quinsey has been ruled out. But my tonsils are really enlarged (i have large tonsils anyway). I feel ok in myself, no cold or flu symptons, no ear ache, after a couple of days of medication I can eat anything - just a very bad and tender throat, that just won't go away permantely, with the antibiotics just temporaily reliving the pain. Although, when I gag I can bring mucus up, but my head and nose are not bunged up?

I have tried to the home remedies, gargling salt/tcp, manuka 10 honey, nasal drops.

Anyone else have any similar experience, knowledge or tips that they can assist me with - I would be very grateful for any info.

Thanks for your time.
Andy
