Q: constant popping in ear

hi....
Hi... I had a bad ear squeeze (diving without equalising air spaces )after scuba diving three weeks ago and i think this caused a right ear infection.
I noticed previous to the infection a deep green brown liquid being produced after every dive (that i initially thought was cigarette tar from my lungs!)
After a while i developed a pain in my right ear that became more progressive over three days. I also suffered worsening hearing loss.
I went to an ear doctor and he said i had a middle ear infection and prescribed antibiotics and ear drops and decongestants. The pain in my ear was considerable. A week later the pain had not gone much so i went to another ear doctor and he also said i had an ear infection. More antibiotics were prescribed. Although the pain has now gone I HAVE HAD CONSTANT POPPING IN MY RIGHT EAR EVERY TIME I SWALLOW AND BLOW MY NOSE THAT SOMETIMES RESULTS IN DULLED HEARING... it feels like a membrane moving every time my ears pop. Will this heal ? Is it anything to do with a round window rupture ? Can i go diving again ?

re:infection
sorry to hear about that hazel, especially if the doctors are stumped.
My infection cleared up eventually but it took a very strong course of antibiotics that didnt really work (suggesting virus attack to me). What did work was a steroid nasal spray attacking and thinning the eustachian tube walls, allowing all the gunk to drain away and thus alleviating the popping and fizzing problems. The steroid spray was called NASONEX (50mg mometasone furoate per accuation), and it was available on prescription at the chemist, and after regular use (few weeks), my problems went away. I believe though that my condition was chronic repetitive ear infection and thank god i havent had it since. Try the nasal spray. Hope it helps.

Thanks i may take that up with the doctors and see what they say about it thanks Smile.

i went to the doctors yesterday about my ears and he gave me some ear drops which are not helping the popping one bit in my left ear just making it worse however they are helping the tightening sensation ive been having in my right ear but im planning on going to see a specialist about it if these drops do not help, i had a bacterial infection first then i got a fungal infection ohh i just wish they could figure it out Neutral
