I am 19 years old and ever since December of 2008, I have been on my period. It is now April 21, 2009. I have been on my period for about 5 or 6 months. For like 2 weeks it would be heavy then it would slow down then it would get heavy again. I was off my period for a week, then It came on again. My first period was when I was 10 and ever since then I have always had irregular periods. I have had a similar situation like this before when I was 16. But it just keep happening. I have been really tired and lazy lately. Also my appetite has changed as well. Some days i would eat alot and some days I wouldn't eat at all. I have gained a lot of weight because of this. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I am in the same boat as you, I have also been bleeding since Christmas 2008. Before then I would bleed heavy with large clots and pain that would cause me to go to bed. Now, since Christmas I have been bleeding almost everyday but not near as heavy and I have not had to retreat to bed due to pain. For the past few weeks I have been having pain around where my ovaries are and today it feels like someone is sticking a needle in me. I have had cysts before and my lining is really thick, I was actually scheduled for a D & C and hysterscopy last year but had to cancel. I am going to make another appointment with my Dr. soon. I am worried about uterine cancer or endodemetrosis. I am overweight. We are probably anemic which is why we are tired and not having the energy to do anything. As soon as I find out anything I will let you know.

You should definitely take iron pills, but know that it might make you constipated.
i have irregular menses and i had a hysteroscopy and D&C with the depo shot. my doctor said the lining of my uterus was think so he scraped it(D&N) but if you go to webmd.com you'll find out that's only a temporary fix. ive been bleeding for 3 weeks after my surgery when my doctor was so sure i'll be okay.
i am very frustrated because they are doing trial and error on me. right now my doctor said she's going to adjust my depo doses. she doesnt know if it'll help.
Are any of you considering getting a hysterectomy (never having kids, this will definately stop the bleeding) i told my doctor im not ready to make that decision right now.

Finally went to the Dr.
I finally saw my Dr. They did a transvaginal ultrasound and found that my lining was 5-6 times thicker than it should be. It was endometrium hyperplsia and I would need to have a D&C. My doctor gave me progestrone pills to take to stop the bleeding and so far they are working. I have scheduled the D&C, hysteroscopy, bioposy and laparoscopy to be done all at the same time which is May 18th. If this doesn't help I will probally get a hysterctomy (without removing the ovaries)since I am not wanting any more children.

ServiceU...I am sorry to hear that you are still bleeding after your surgery. My doc started me on a double dose of the progestrone pills and it stopped the bleeding within 36 hours. Hopefully, adjusting your dosage will stop yours.

Shawnblu2...Your story sounds so much like me. I hope you get to the bottom of your bleeding. My doc said that some of the weight gain was due to this and lack of energy was related to the blood loss. He did check my levels and it was low but not dangerously low and now that I am not bleeding it should retun to normal, I do have a little more energy now. Good Luck!!!
