Hi everyone, i am writing on here because i am suffereing from a constant lightheadedness i have had for nearly three years now, im 24 next week and my life is being wasted on this lightheadedness/dizziness! over three years ago i had a freak accident which involved boiling water being shot in my ear canal from a faulty machine, which knocked me to the ground and caused my serious pain including extreme pressure behind the eye and a seriously blood shot eye! I was taken straight to the hospital where they said they dint want to touch or look in my ear becuase it was burnt and they did not wanna cause anymore damage! Fair enough, over the next few months i suffered from numerous infections causing pain on and off and a discharge that really did smell horrible. at the time it was a minor inconvinece. I was on no end of anti biotics over this period, The accident happened january 31st 2005, on july the 31st 2005 i was sitting on the sofa when i was hit by a spout of dizziness. What i forgot to mention is that a few days before the 31st of July i was punched in the same ear, which was typical, from a random attack while in town with my missus! I have never experienced dizziness like that before, this was a spinning sensation. After this subsided i was stuck with a dull lightheadedness/full head feeling. I still dint take much notice as it wasnt that severe, i went to the doctors where he said i had another ear infection, by this time the discharge had stopped and dried up. Since that day i have suffered from lightheadedness. I saw no end of ENTs and had an MRI. Doctors say its anxiety related, I can see that when i get anxious the dizziness does get worse but only sometimes i must add, not all the time! I do smoke but did before all of this, i quit for six months to see if it made my dizziness better, i did not, so i know im bad but i started smoking again! The dizziness does get a little worse when i have a drink or a cigarette but again this happens sometimes! When i get a cold the lightheadedness is doubled which becomes where i have to stay in bed all day. This dizziness began to worry me about two months of it coming on, i started to have the anxiety, and panic attacks, 999 was called a few times because of palpitations being caused by my anxiety and the dizziness! What i dont get is when the ambulance people came out to me they put me on oxygen the dizziness started to subside but i felt very anxious with the oxygen on, overbreathing i aint sure? Also i get some relief when i put some menthal crystals and boiling water in a bowl and take it in with a towel over my head! I still think it is ear related! Fluid in inner ear, can i doctor see this fluid just from looking in my ear? Does an MRI show up a tube blockage? I still get a blocked ear but the doctor still says there is no wax i dont get it. Please tell me if u have had the same or am i being stupid? Help

Reply to dizziness and lightheadedness issue
I started to get very similar feelings of dizziness and lightheadedness about sixteen months ago. After the first two months I went to my GP who was able to tell me I had fluid in my ear just by looking. He prescribed tablets called stemetil, nose drops and other tablets which apparently contained the same medicine as exputex cough bottle. after two weeks the dizziness went away. i did get it back about six months later but I took the same medicines and nose drops again and it subsided. havent had it since apart from when I smoke too much or have a few drinks but in those cases it doesn't last long. hope this helps.
