Q: Constant discharge
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 15th, 2009
I have had a constant dripping clear/yellowish discharge for the last 6 months. It is so bad that I have to wear a pad on a daily basis. My pap smears are normal, and my doctor did not find any infections
. The kind of discharge that I am having, is constant and I thought at first it could be a yeast infection, but my doctor did not find any infections. It drips, even before and after intercourse..I am so frustrated not being able to get rid of this. Why Am I having this problem. Is is possible its the condoms that I use?

Clear discharge is considered normal. Glands from the vaginal mucosa produce fluid all the time.
Yellowish discharge is usually a sign of infection. Your doctor might have tested for more common bacteria and others (Chlamydia, Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma) might have been omitted. Your doctor might want to take a cervical and vaginal swab for cultures with antibiogram which might determine the most useful antibiotic.
