Hi doctor!
My mother age over 50 years and she has been living with RA including dry eyes since 18 years. Five years back when she became physically very weak, doctor found that she have also heart disease. Since that doctor has prescribed the following below drugs and she used to take these drugs and living well. But since few months she have a constant burning, hot, pain in her spine, shoulders and neck, knees ache as do her hips. She tried to asleep but she could not sleep well during night because of the pain. I bring her to doctor but doctor suggest same drugs to be continued and I didn’t see any improvement of my mother.
The drugs are :

Tab: Aspirin 75mg; Tab: Frusemide 40mg + Spironolactone 50mg; Tab. Ramipril bp 2.5mg; Tab Digoxin bp 0.25mg; Carvedilol 6.25mg; Methotrexate BP 2.5mg; Folic Acid bp 5mg ; Calbon D;Indomethacin bp 25mg ; Omeprazole 20mg; Eye drops Protear (Povidone 5%);

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

Take your mother to her gynecologist. The first thing to be ruled out is hormone imbalance of menopause. If this is caught on tests like FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone level, then hormone replacement therapy will help.

If this is ruled out then hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis will have to be ruled out. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your mother's gynecologist once. Hope this helps. Take care!
