I am a female and over fifty. For the past two months, I have had constant belching. I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy, but I am scared. I have not had unexplained weight loss or a change in bowel habits. I do have a couple internal polyps or hemorroids inside my anal tract. Do you think the belching is a side effect of any type of cancer. If so, do you think this is just the beginning stages of such a cancer? Please help!

Unfriendly bacteria and yeast overgrowths may be your problem. Try cutting out all sugars, including non-caloric (artificial) sweeteners to see if this cause is it. Another cause could be lack of sufficient bowel motility and output. This can be corrected by adding fiber (without sweetener of any type).Konsyl is an excellent brand.Good luck.
