hey everyone...i was wondering whether you are experiencing the same thing as me

I am 17 and i have had constant back pain since i was about 11

My shoulders constantly tense up really badly and burn and my back is very weak.
My back constantly is clicking and hurting me..but im sick of complaining to my GP. My doctor naver seems to be able to find out whats wrong with me.

At frist he said 'drink milk', then gave me pain killers and cooling gel, told me to wear warm clothing, then i had a x-ray done, and he has even put me on steriods and nothing has helped at all!! My doctor has now told me that there is nothing now he can do

im constanly twisting and clicking my spine to relive me of this pain but it is just getting worse..i really dont know what to do =[
It just constantly aches and burns and i dont know why. I find it very easy to pull a muscle in my back.

my posture is really bad and it really hurts to stand, sit or lie straight. Sad

Is anyone going through the same thing and could you give me any help and advice please ??

thanks x

Hello Sonia,

It hurts, really HURTS to read of the pain you are in and have been in for 6 years.

Sonia, it is time, way past time to move beyond your GP. They are okay for physicals and very simple things, but they are not specialists.

PLEASE seek out the advice from the best neurologist/spinal surgeon that you can find in your area. Talk to those you know and find out which spinal specialist (with MD at the end of his/her name) that they have high regard for and which ones they do not like. If you have a professional sports team in your area, call up their office and find out which spinal surgeon they use for their players.

THEN make an appointment with the neurologist/spinal surgeon at the top of your list. Next make an appointment with the next doctor in line. It is always a good idea to get a second opinion.

I wish you the very best. Do let us know how things go for you.

Hi Sonia sorry to hear of your troubles. I agree with Rich T there is only so much a GP can do, and it appears he has run out of options a specialist like an orthopedic surgeon may be able to reveal the source of your problems with more serious investigations such as an MRI.

Can i ask what do you mean by my posture is really bad, can you be more specific?

If a specialist cant identify any problems with your spine i would suggest trying to find a good chiropractor as they are supposedly trained to deal with postural problems such as a misalinement of the spine.

hey!

thanks for the advice you two!..ill definately take it into account =]

when i said my posture is bad...i meant that i do tend to slouch quite alot but even when i try and stand up straight..its quite painful (im not saying i look like quasimodo or anything!!)...even sitting up straight is quite hard to go as the middle of my back hurts =[

ill make sure i find a suitable professional ASAP
thanks =]
