Back pain symptoms may seem obvious. But do you know when symptoms of back pain are more serious or when to see a doctor? Learn what action to take & when...
I am currently living with constant pain in my back. I have been to the doctors but being the typical NHS they just tell me to put a self referral in for physio, of which i have done twice and never heard anything back. The dr does not even look at my back. i went to an osteopath who said i had a kink in my spine but i could only afford to go twice.
Symptoms i experience:
I am woken in the night with pain when i attempt to turn over.

My range of motion when trying to turn is limited eg. (and sorry for this) I have difficulty turning when on the toilet to wipe myself.

When i put my chin to my chest i feel a painful pulling up my spine.

intermittant shooting pains in my buttocks.

I cannot stand for more that 5-10 mins without my back seizing.

When i stand up after sitting down i cannot straighten up for a couple of minutes.

Constant sensation of tightness in my middle and lower back.

Upper spine feels twisted if i stand or sit for too long.

I am scared to be in the bath or shower on my own in case i seize up and slip. Cooking the dinner is a painful chore. The thought of bending down to pick things up makes me want to cry.

I am just so exhausted from this, i avoid daily tasks because i know if i did them all in one day that there is no way i could cook a dinner in the evening.

I am not necessarily looking for a diagnosis on here, what i would like is some guidance of what questions to ask my Dr.
I had a baby 16 months ago and i keep getting palmed off with it being my pelvic floor. The problem with that is i had these problems before falling pregnant. I dont not have any urine leakage and i did my pelvic floor exercises regularly.

Leslea, I have no answers. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

They make a chair for your shower. Before they became readily available I found a stool I used when showering.

Are you a stay at home mom with a 16 month old? Wow that would be tough with the pain.

Hoping you find answers and real help.

I know when I have a tough rime , I enjoy getting ti see the grandsons. Even though I may have to tell them I can't do the things they want, it picks me up just having them around.

I take it you are in Canada? I have no real idea what your healthcare is like. I have had great luck with my doctors.

I think she is in Canada so their healthcare system is different. I was at my doctors office and they came in and told me I had 20 mintues to get across town to get my mri. I don't think you can do that in Canada.

Lelly, hope you get the relief you need. I had one surgery and it gave me 10 years of fairly normal life.

Lesley, Keep us updated on how you are doing. Hope you can get the medical help you need.

I had another rupture about a year ago. Got in to the Dr pretty quick and had 3 epidurals. Last one in Sept. Getting an increase in pain and tried accupuncture. The chiropractor that did it suggested 4 sessions and if that didn't help it probably wouldn't. Looks like it didn't give me the relief I needed so planning another epidural. Right now I get by on 2 or 3 Norco a day. Hoping to avoid surgery as it would be a fusion.

I think that's what need but will find out tuesday, I can't go on like am anymore to any drugs and not being able to go out anywhere as I can't walk any distance sitting in a car for very long either. If I were to wait for my nhs appointment it would be 8 weeks so have to go private for results and to get n the waiting list it costs 250 just to have results. I will let you know how I get on I am counting down the days x x
