Q: Consistent vaginal bleeding
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 17th, 2009
I have had light vaginal bleeding for about three months.I have gone to the doctor, and all my blood work, ultrasounds, and biopsies have come back as normal. She said it's probably stress, but I definitely do NOT feel stressed. She also said it could be PCOS, although I have NONE of the symptoms. I've started taking BCP Levlen, but it only stopped the bleeding for the first five days. What else can I do? What else could be causing this incessant bleeding?

The light vaginal bleeding might be caused by infection. Some bacteria are capable of destructing the epithelium of the vagina or the uterus thus causing light bleeding. You might want to have vaginal swab with antibiogram to determine the exact bacteria and the most useful antibiotic.
Also, no data was given if the blood tests included female sex hormones. If not, checking them for any hormonal imbalance is recommended.
