Q: Consistency of semen and painful intercourse
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 3rd, 2009
My semen is not the usual solid white, viscous consistency; its more of a clear, runny consistency, and only ever takes on any real color/viscosity after going several days without ejaculating--but even then, it gets more yellowish than white. I've also been told that my semen has a bad taste (mucousy, rather than salty), which I believe has to do with its consistency/make up. Also, the amount of semen that produce per ejaculation is excessive.
Additionally, I have what seems to be an abnormally long refractory period (for my age and decent level of health): usually I have to wait up to 8 hours before I can sustain a painless erection--after ejaculation, my penis feels somewhat bruised--and ejaculate again. I would not be at all surprised to learn that these two issues are directly related, so hopefully I'll be able to deal with both of them simultaneously because they're negatively affecting my sex life. Any help in dealing with them would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

In general, the semen needs time to maturate. Therefore, the frequent masturbation or intercourse might not provide enough time for the semen to reach its own viscosity. So, it is very likely that what you experience is completely normal.

As for the pain after intercourse, it might be caused by increased friction. You might consider using a lubricant. If you need more time to ejaculate, it is likely that the friction might hurt the sensitive penile mucosa.
