I know that this might seem a bit of an odd question, but how far do you actually have to go for what you are doing to be considered "sexually active"?

I went to my doctor the other day and one of the questions she asked was "Are you sexually active?" I wasn't really sure how to reply (so I said no, because I'm a virgin).

I've never had actual intercourse, so I personally don't consider myself sexually active, but I have "masturbated" a guy (for lack of a better word?!) through his trousers and dry-humped someone (if that's what you call it when you simulate sex with someone but have your clothes on).

I don't have words to explain, I'm sorry Embarassed , I don't know a lot of "sexual terms" if you get my drift (I only found out recently that giving oral sex to a guy was called a "blow job" lol!), I know how they "work" but not what they are called!

Medically speaking am I considered "sexually active"? My friend said that I am, but I wouldn't say I was. baffle

oral is anytime there is a chance to get a std or pregnency then it is considered being sexually active just remember if the ejaculate soaks through both of your clothes there is a chance of getting pregnant though just to let you know

that would have to be some might strong sperm to go through pants, undies and then somehow swim up the vagina to get a girl pregnant!!!! i think its safe to say that its HIGHLY unlikely if ejaculate gets on your clothes to end up pregnant...so long as you stay away from intercourse pregnancy shouldn't be an issue

for that matter, the same goes for oral sex. even if you give oral sex to a guy, its VERY hard to get pregnant, unless of course you do get ejaculate on or around your vagina. if you spit and rinse right after he climaxes, you won't have a problem. Even if you swallow, keep in mind the sperm would have to travel through your digestive system, through all the stomach and intestinal acids designed to break down whatever goes into it, and your reproductive system is in no way connected to your digestive system unless you are already pregnant and the fetus is absorbing the nutrients (or non-nutrients) you take in.
But use caution, because anything is possible. I'm just demonstrating the unlikelihood that you would even be pregnant from oral sex. A hand job and dry humping are even more unlikely sources of getting pregnant.

hey sweetie,

i don't think i would consider you sexually active. if you both have all your clothes on, even if you are doing sexual things like rubbing on one another or dry humping, i don't think that really comprises sexual activity.

also, i don't think that masturbating (yourself) comprises sexual activity "in the doctor's perspective".

if you get to the point where you are with a partner, the clothes start coming off, you are touching eachother's genitals or you are doing oral on him or he is doing oral on you, then i think you've stepped over the line into being sexually active. of course it goes without saying that if you have penetrative sex (intercourse) that would do it too!

i'm not sure why doctors ask that question like that. "are you sexually active". when i was younger i thought the same way you do. i was like "huh"?

good luck! don't get too hung up on all the terms. just be sure you do only what you want to and only when you feel like you should be doing it.
