Been at the ER all day, my boyfriend has had terrible migraines for 3 weeks, 3 days ago he started talking incoherently , they found a spot on his brain, a stroke I guess, said they don't know when it happened, sent him home all confused, he still doesn't know what day it is. He's lost 35 pounds, has shakes, sweats and sleeps or tries to. I'm lost and don't know what to do. I know HIV could be a part of it, but they won't look at anything else, the HIV clinic doesn't seem to care of have time. I'm scared and don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

Hello and thank you for your post on e health forum.

From the history and description it seems that your boyfriend has a infection in the brain (Meningitis or encephalitis)

Severe headache, fever with sweats, reduced sensorium, lethargy, excessive sleepiness are all signs of infection (viral or bacterial) in the brain.

Tests like a Lumbar puncture and CSF analysis, blood cultures, and treatment with specific antibiotics and supportive medications will help in resolution of the condition.

I hope this information here is helpful.
