I had a cone biopsy after being diagnosed with HSIL.It was done on May 19.I got my period on May 29.It has been heavy at times, and I have had it for nine days.HOw long is too long? I didn't bring it up to my Dr at my follow up because it was only day number 5.Now i am starting to wonder! Also, I thought of some questions after my follow up in regards to the info the Dr gave me.First of all, he was surprised that I had this since my PAPS have been okay in the past.
HE explained when he went in for th ebiopsy,he (I believe he said) he saw the lesions, proceeded to do the biopsy, which he said "diffused" or, as he said to me,fell apart.I am wondering why it would do this.He then said he will have to do another cone because the margins were not clean. Then he will monitor with PAPS.Should they come back abnormal, we will discuss hysterectomy. Now, he did not say the word cancer, so I am assuming that I don't have that, but why would the biopsy fall apart? I am thinking it is almost rotting skin, like cancer moght be? Sounds crazy perhaps?! I have another appointment in 4 weeks, so I will ask these questions, but thought I could get some thoughts before then. By the way, I am 38 years old, with three children.Having a hysterectomy wouldn't be an issue as far as more children are concerned, but I also worry about any other side effects that may come with it.

If it were cancer, he would tell you it was cancer. What it means by needing another cone, is that he didn't get all of the lesions. He needs to get all of them. I don't know what he meant by diffused. Could be that he didn't go deep enough.

Is your bleeding lessening at all or is it always heavy?
