This is a personal dilemma that I am sure many single fathers are going through and it is unacceptable.

I am 29 with a gorgeous daughter who is 7, I adore her.
I have huge concerns regarding the way local council's deal with single father's and my story is below. Any information or help is much appreciated.

In 2004 I split from my daughters mother, tho we still get on great as friends. I grew up on the same council estate till I was 25 and had a very good childhood as the estate is good, I know a lot of people and all my family live their. The problem is that when I apply for a house on the estate I am constantly told that the area is high demand so I would not be housed their as I am a single male and being a father is looked upon as irrelevent, I was forced to take a home 30 miles away from my daughter.
I see my daughter 2 days a week and recently have noticed her getting upset about me not living close to her so she can see me when she likes, its hurting me and I dont drive so getting their is a 5 hour journey by bus. (2.5 each way)
So I once again phoned my local council to ask for a move, it was refused. Yet I know for a fact they are housing single men with no children and even some cases they have moved drug dealers into properties that have then been trashed. I have also noticed that a lot of Polish and Asian are moving into empty properties (not a racist remark). I just dont understand how they can let a child suffer, depriving them of their Dad by telling the Dad the area is to high demand yet they move people in who have just come into this country into the empty properties yet I lived their for 25 years even helping with local events!!

Then the government wonder why youth crime is so high. There all nuts!

For the record I cannot afford a mortgage on my own and even private renting is too expensive for any single person on a just above minimum wage.

Basically I am in need of any information regarding the rights I have to be housed nearer to my Child so she does not become another statistic and victim of the terrible ignorance by this government towards willing, caring fathers.
Or any information like a loophole in the system that gives me legal rights to force the council to house me closer.

Thanks for reading.
