Hi my name is Britany , and I have a question about my three year old son who is turning four in October. As a child I was diagnosed with ADD and his biological father was diagnosed with ADHD. I have extreme concerns of my son having ADD/ADHD. I have talked to two doctors and they have said wait. I have waited two years now and it only seems to be getting worse. His current doctor told me he could not diagnose him because it was not in his feild. Is there a certain doctor I need to talk to about diagnosing my son? I have looked at several websites and he has every symptom listed. Have fear that school or day care will not except him in with the way he acts. He acts out at home but more so out in public. He does not like going out in public. He screams and acts out when we do go out in public. How can I go about getting my son diagnosed?

Hello.

From your description of your son's behavior, it does look like he needs an evaluation. For diagnostic advice, you can consult one or more of these kinds of specialists -

1) Child Psychiatrist or a Psychiatrist with special interest in ADD/ADHD
2) Child Psychologist
3) Occupational Therapist working with Children

You might come across many more mental health professionals, but you need to see if they are qualified for diagnosing ADHD.

Meanwhile, you can gather some tips from a few authentic websites about managing a child with hyperactivity.
