Q: Conception and ovulation progesterone levels
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 2nd, 2008
My past periods have been pretty irregular 3/14/08, 4/13/08, 5/14/08, 6/13/08, 7/24/08, 8/16/08 and I bleed for a long time (August was 15 days others are typically about the same). I have been off the pill since Jan 08 and started taking ovulation tests in May. I have yet to see a ovulation test come back stating that I am ovulating. I purchased a Clearblue Easy Fertility Montior and day 18 is still showing now rise in my fertility levels. Do I go to the Dr. or do I wait it out? I dont want to waste anybody's time but Im getting frustrated that 1) I can't get pregnant and 2) that I dont show signs of being able to conceive at all.

Please help!

If you have been trying to conceive for more than a year without success you may consider that you have a sterility problem that requires medical attention.

Periods that last 15 days are not normal (menorrhagia). A period should normally last 3-7 days.

It is not clear in your case if you have ovulation or not. You may need to examine your progesterone level in the second half of your cycle. If the hormone progesterone is not detected that is a proof that you don't have ovulations.

You may want to consult a gynecologist.
