Q: conception after xray and CT scan

My wife and I have been trying to conceive for two months. I received a lower abdominal x ray and an abdominal ct scan a couple of days ago. A lead plate was used to cover my genitals on the xray, but no rpotection on the ct scan. How long should we wait to begin trying again? I understand this may be a matter of opinion but I'd value a response.

I don't see why you need to wait. X-ray is only forbidden for the expectant mother.

You having an xray will not affect your wife getting pregnant, good luck to the both of you! Smile

The concern would be in birth defects caused by radiation to the sperm.

But CT scan/Xray is not like chemotherapy radiation. The radiation used for chemotherapy in the other hand does affect fertility as the dose is higher and that's why there is women with cancer who go harvest their eggs before they begin chemo therapy.
