Back pain symptoms may seem obvious. But do you know when symptoms of back pain are more serious or when to see a doctor? Learn what action to take & when...
I had spinal fusion surgery for my scoliosis in May of 2007. They inserted Harrington Rods and of course all the appliances that hold them in place. After the surgery, my doctor told me that I had some "protruding appliances" and if they bothered me he could take them out. To make a long story short, we finally decided to take all the hardware out of my back. I thought it would be great to get all the metal out and not have to worry about complications from having that stuff in my back. The hardware was removed in August (8/09) and now it looks like my spine is curving again. My doctor said if it continues I will need another surgery to insert the hardware again. I really don't want another surgery! So, I am wondering if anyone knows of some type of therapy or exercise I could try in hopes that my spine will stop curving. It's just so hard to know what to do since my spine is already fused. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You need to get a second and maybe even a third opinion on what is going on with your spine.

You may or may not need another surgery to add hardware, but before agreeing to that, get more opinions.

Be sure that the spine surgeons that you see are specialists in scoliosis and not just spine surgery and spine speciality.

Keep us posted and good luck
