About 10 yrs ago I was diagnosed with a complete detached retina, I have had a problem with my eye since I had an accident at work about 40 yrs ago. Since I have been diagnosed I have seen numerous doctors/Specialist but was advised that an operation would probably not be succesfull. I dont have any vision as such but I can see light. Which due to the double vision is a big distraction. I have tried a solid contact lense, which worked well but having to change every day was a tedious task. My question is, why cant I have my vision blocked through surgery. I now this may sound drastic, but I dont have any useful vision from my eye anyway.

To my knowledge there is no surgery by which you can block your vision.Contact lens is a good option. You can go for tinted or frosted spectacles as well.
