Comparing Syndrome X With Type Ii Diabetes Posted: 02-19-07 08:13am
What is the difference between type 2
diabetes and syndrome x? They sound
almost identical to me.

From what I know, Syndrome X is insulin
resistant..... type 2 diabetes usually
respond to insulin. My body makes insulin,
but it doesn't respond. My mom has type 2
also, but her body doesn't make it and it
responds to injected insulin

Syndrome X is a mix of 2 or more health
conditions related to being overweight or
obese. They are: high cholesterol, high
blood sugar (including "pre-diabetes"),
high blood pressure, high triglycerides,
high uric acid, and a couple of others.
Most people with diabetes (Type 2) have
some of these other conditions related to
being fat.
