I had a colonoscopy in 2001. Several small polyps and one large one were removed.

I had a followup colonsocopy in January 2003. I was told there were no polyps at that time.

My doctor recommended that I schedule a screning colonscopy this month. I will be 65 and the test will be covered my Medicare in January of 2010. I would have to pay for the bulk of the test if I were to have it this month.

What are the guidlines for the frequency of a colonoscopy and would I me putting myself at a great risk if I defer it until January.

I have no symptoms of colon problems at this time.

Thanks for your thoughts.
