I am very sorry to hear of your husband's advanced colon cancer.

Although the average survival for untreated metastatic colon cancer is typically around 6 months, unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to predict any one individual's survival, no matter what disease they have (including cancer). Some people live much longer than average, and others do much more poorly.

If your husband has chosen not to undergo treatment, then I would recommend a referral to home hospice (if you have insurance that will cover this service, that is). A high quality home hospice nurse can visit your home most days, and ensure that your husband is not suffering from excessive discomfort, nausea, or other symptoms assoicated with advanced cancer.

Sincerely/ Robert A. Wascher, MD, FACS

my sister had surgery today to remove cancer in her upper colon
the doctor said he got all the cancer out of the colon which he said was a small amt.....he also said that he took a small spot of her liver as well. my sister haven't spoken to the docter yet because she is still drugest. I s it possible that the spot on her liver might not be cancerous. Praying for good results. I expect the doctor will explain more to my sister tomorrow. thank you
